Inspired by the non-linear features of Willem de Kooning’s paintings, this project explores the evolution of space through nongeometric forms. The final design features several surfaces made from thin paper pieces and wooden structures, resulting in an architectural study of the interaction between non-linear forms and spatial dynamics.

Phase One
I began by tracing the lines from Willem de Kooning’s artwork and separating them into three groups with different colors. These lines were then drawn on parchment paper and duplicated in black to form a cubic structure with three layers.

Phase Two
To further investigate the relationship between non-linear forms and space, I recreated the forms using white cardboard paper. This phase involved sticking the cardboard pieces onto the wood-structured cube, creating new spatial relationships.
